I think, therefore I am. I am, therefore I sail

Finally, a standing desk on the boat!

I have had standing desks for years. In fact, I recently posted a photo I found of the standing desk I had at our Lake City house. When we moved onto the boat I was bummed that there was no area that was both compact and out of the way enough for a standing desk. A couple weeks ago I accidentally ran across the solution!

What I have set up now is a monitor mount with a tray on the arm instead of a monitor. It has been working great! The only major issue I have run across is the monitor height. Because I am using the built in laptop monitor I am looking down, which hurts the upper back after a while. Thinking now about getting a small external monitor to mount similarly above the laptop.

Lake City Desk – final

For some reason people often ask what my desk looks like. I even have an entire category dedicated just to desk photos. Unfortunately I had not had a picture of the final desk I had in the Lake City house, which was one of my favorites. I found one! This is my desk circa Jan 13, 2016.

It is a standing desk, built from a (musical) keyboard stand and a bass guitar case. It was rather enjoyable to use.

Workstation throwback

Just ran across this photo of a desk from years gone by. This was my workstation when I was working at Freshmuse as the Director of Engineering in 2012.

Desk with a view

Now that I am married I am again a landlubber :'(. The upside is that I can setup my full office space again. I have wanted a true standing desk for a couple years. I have been experimenting with the concept using a musical keyboard stand and my bass guitar case. So far I am really digging it. And being able to look out at my 1965 VW Bus is an added bonus.

If you someone has shared a calendar with you there is no clear way to make it available on your phone. Google has a tool to enable shared calendars to synch however to push you toward the Google apps Google has not made it easy for anyone else. Lucky for us the tool is simple to get to and use.
