Amphibious buses arriving in Seattle

I utilize the transit system in the Seattle area pretty heavily to get around, most commonly the busses. Every morning I walk to the 545 route which takes me over the 520 bridge and Lake Washington. Traffic across the bridges can get pretty heavy and Seattle is doing something about it. A couple days ago my driver says over the intercom

 

 

 

As some of you may know, the buses are in the middle of being retrofit for amphibious usage. This will save a lot of time traveling across Lake Washington. The bus you are on today is the first of the refitted buses and you get the privilege of being on the trial run. There is one more stop before we get to the Lake so if you do not want to be part of the trial please get off there. All we ask is that you be able to hold your breath for up to one minute. Casualty estimates are only 10% so most of you will make it.

I was sitting in the last row and many people had shocked looks on their faces. I was cracking up and holding my sides laughing. We have some awesome bus drivers in Seattle. What a great way to start off the day. And yes, I was one of the 90%
