Jetpack projects day

November 4, 2013

Often from the outside looking in it seems as if Automatticians are always having fun. Granted working for Automattic is a lot of fun and I often am amazed that I get paid do do exactly what I love, but we do actually work. And we get stuff done!

I started off the morning with a run along the beach at 7 AM. Let me tell you, it does not matter what the temperature is when the humidity level is in the 80% range. This morning the temperature was low but it still just sucked to be out in. Karen, Beckett and I made it about 3/4 of a mile before walking. The goal was to jog to each end of the beach, or about 2 miles. We made the 2 miles, though most of it was walked.

Saw a rather disturbing pipe and sign on the run.

Today was projects day. Our team lead Tim laid out a couple projects for us and we then self organized into teams. One project dealt with enhancing the user interface experience in Jetpack itself and the other on enhancing documentation on http://jetpack.me. Having a strong background in product evangelist and documentation I chose to go join the documentation team as their developer.

Dave and I pounded out most of our portion of the project today. Tomorrow will be finishing touches and adding those little extra touches that make it feel magical.

For dinner we went to a little local cafe. Not a bad place. Karen’s pork was a little bigger than anticipated, but their presentation was excellent.

Now I am exhausted and super ready to hop into my cockroast infested bed for an all too short nap until we crack the whip again in the morning.

Glad to hear you actually do work 😉 Thanks for the updates. This Mom likes to “stalk” her son while he is away. Love the pics howling a different part of the world!!
